Lake District Glamping Yoga Retreats
In the heart of the Lake District National Park.
'Back to nature back to natural state'
Unique yoga retreats where you choose your own dates.
These are intimate retreats that offer both workshop time and free time to explore the beautiful surroundings. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to the more advanced practitioner. Yoga is a personal exploration to create union between self and natural state rather than a comparison or destination. Our practice will be focused on embodiment and presence.
A retreat is a time to move inwards and withdraw from that which does not serve us. A time to gather ourselves, let go and create space for our bodies to thrive and our minds to be still in presence.
The result, a sense of natural joy and wellbeing.

Yoga in the the heart of the Lake District
YOGA AND EMBODIED MEDITATION RETREATS & WORKSHOPS IN THE HEART OF THE LAKE DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK
The literal translation for the Sanskrit word ‘Yoga’ is ‘Yoke'. To come to the centre, the core of our being. Another way to look at it is the unification of mind and body as one interconnected whole or as the joining self with natural state.
These retreats are aimed towards individuals, couples or close friends that want time away to come back home to self and once again be 'moved by life'. We will be practicing in a stunning location to create more space both inside and out. You do not need any previous yoga experience and equally, it is fine if you do. Fun is top of the list and hopefully going home with some new resources that benefit both body and mind. When we build a relationship with our own bodies, we are more available to build a healthy relationship with life.
Accommodation
Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park and world heritage site on the grounds of Rydal Hall is your romantic Shepherd’s Hut. Fully kitted out with everything you could need, including a toasty wood-burning stove. With just a 10 minute stroll down to Rydal lake and the fairfield horseshoe mountain range from your hut door, you really won’t want to leave.
Workshop Venue:
Our venue for the yoga workshops is very special indeed. Set in a private 9 acre pine forest in Grasmere with incredible views over to the ‘Lion and the Lamb’, we have a 24ft yurt specifically designed to keep us warm in any British weather. Away from the maddening crowds, throughout our practice we will see only the woodland trees, mountain views and maybe a red squirral or the sound of an occasional owl.
Keeping it real.
I have absolutely all sorts of people coming to my yoga classes. From young students to very active 70+ year olds. I teach men and women that have never done any yoga before but are suffering with back pain that is affecting their lives and yogis that have a good understanding of the structural principles. It really is for everyone, no matter what your size, shape, ability or experience. My job as a teacher is to differentiate so all needs are met and support you in accessing your own body wisdom and resources.
Choose your own dates for a private 3 night weekend retreat or 4 night mid week with a friend or partner.
Happy to accommodate so please get in touch
The best place to create union between self and natural state is in Nature. Spending time in nature reminds us that we do not know it all and that we never will. It allows us to accept all the happenings of life without judgment.
Meet Sarah
'The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.' - Pablo Picasso
I'm Sarah, the founder of 'The Herdwick Huts' and 'Lake District Yoga Retreats'. I have a passion for creating spaces that nurture, both inside and out, believing that the relationship we have to our internal environment is a direct reflection of how we live in nature.
I have been teaching Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga for 8 years now and practicing for over 25 years. My approach is focused on embodied practice, waking up connections between each part of the body so we can live a fuller life. I have trained in Zen yoga at Anam Cara in Scotland and Vinyasa/Hatha yoga in India. I love to teach and I love to learn so I class myself as an eternal student.
I am so pleased to be able to create these 'Glamping' Yoga Retreats based in the stunning Lake District National Park. With the shepherd's huts at Rydal Hall and our yoga space in a magnificant pine woodland with mountainous views, I really do believe we get the best of both the landscape and internal space for our practice.
I look forward to potentially meeting you
in the future.
